In these here days of magic, where a new cool bar pops up every few months, it's hard to believe this Ciqikou youth hostel once made the top five of Shapingba hangouts...

While it's not the crowd pleaser it once was, it still offers alcohol, food, a pool table and one of the best balconies in town.

If you're just visiting, you'll be tempted to just spend a lazy couple of days in the bars and cafés of Ciqikou, only crossing the gate again to go back to the train station.
