Xinyuan Drypot (鑫源干锅)

1/7
Smack dab in between Sichuan International Studies University and the Lieshimu subway station is a quaint but delicious dishes/drypot restaurant. Halfway up the hill, it is tucked away in between several other small restaurants, so be careful not to miss it! It’s a slight hole in the wall joint that doesn’t skimp on taste. For the Laowai, an English menu is easily provided, complete with smiley faces adjacent to the favorites of expats past.
Owned by Lieshimu locals, it is the only drypot (or ganguo - 干锅) place in the area. Choices of pork spare ribs, beef, chicken, and other favorites are heavily seasoned and basted within the spicy delectable sauce of Lieshimu ganguo lore. Not feeling something spicy? This restaurant doubles as a dishes palace. Their lunch specials hover around 10 kuai, complete with an entree and a heaping serving of rice. These entrees are a pork paradise, including tender twice cooked pork, bell pepper pork, pork strands and tomatoes, among many others. The wait staff is very helpful in suggesting others as the menu is easily read in English. Enjoy!
